
The blazon of Kentucky Southern College embodies symbols representative of the distinctive qualities of the institution.
The College Monogram, “They whom a dream hath possessed”, is surmounted by a representation of the Tower of Light, architectural emblem of the campus. The tower of light signified the unity of all knowledge under the perspective of the Christian faith. The monogram expresses the spirit of the community of scholars called together in a college where academic excellence is cherished, where intellectual interests are dominant, and where Christian character is honored.
The Rope Triangle at the center of the crest is symbolic of the trimester system. It is entwined to represent the fusion of Christian ideals and scholarship which is at the heart of the program in the Interrelation of the Disciplines. The Cross and Bible within the rope are emblematic of Christian education.
The Quill and Scroll symbolize the humanities and literature.
The Globe represents the social sciences.
The Atomic Symbol signifies the natural sciences.
The date, 1960, is the founding year of the College.
The crest is surrounded by a ribbon proclaiming “Kentucky Southern College, Louisville, Kentucky”. Official colors for the arms are sable and argent.
